Tracy Eugene (Gene) Berry, 73, was born July 6, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. Gene died on March 9, 2023 after a short battle with colon cancer, in the Focused Care facility in Center, Texas.

He was well attended by their staff and the family is very grateful for the wonderful care they gave to him Gene was preceded in death by his parents E.A.(Allen) and M.L.(Mickey) Berry, and his sister Penelope Dee Berry Johnson. He is survived by his brother Craig, his daughter Holly Berry Williams and granddaughter Reese Williams, and son Brandon Berry.

Gene grew up in Plano, Texas, graduating from Plano High School in 1967 as the Class President. He was a proud member of the 1965 Plano Wildcat State 2A Championship football team.

He attended college at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, joining the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He moved to Houston, TX where he worked in banking. He enlisted in the U.S. Army but was injured in a parachute accident.

He returned to his love of East Texas and Nacogdoches to begin a career in healthcare. Most recently he worked in the restaurant supply industry. Gene was a resident of Nacogdoches for 45 years.

A family, Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, March 25th in Plano. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society (the Colorectal Cancer section) in honor of Gene.
