Funeral for Robert Vance Payne, 65, of Center will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, Center, with the Rev. Greg Megill, the Rev. Robert Montgomery and the Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center. Payne died March 1, 2007, in a Nacogdoches hospital. Born Aug. 13, 1941, in Shreveport, La., he was the son of Rex Gayle Payne and Phabrice Montgomery Payne. He and his family owned and operated Payne-Payne Hardware ¹n Suchlike in Center. His radio broadcast, Payne¹s Community News, was heard on the Center radio station, and he was the home stadium voice of the Center Roughrider football team for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Center. Survivors include his wife, Billie Sue Payne of Center; daughter, Angela Walker of Nacogdoches; sons, Rob Payne of Center and Joshua Vance Payne of Dallas; sister, Lee Gayle Lunsford of Center; and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 211 Porter St., Center, Texas 75935, the Roughrider Scholarship Fund, P.O.
