Preston Triplett, 76, of Tyler, passed away on August 22, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2018, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Dennis Dutton, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the funeral home.
Preston was born on December 17, 1941, in Hillsboro, to Weldon and Frances (Layne) Triplett. He grew up in Whitney and attended school there, graduating from Whitney High School in 1959. In 1963, he graduated from Stephen F. Austin, receiving his a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Immediately out of college, he started working for Brookshires Grocery Company and 36 years later, in 2000, he retired from the company as Senior Vice-President, Controller- Secretary.
On January 5, 1963, he married Beth Marsh in Nacogdoches, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, wood working and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney and also a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Frances Layne Triplett and Weldon Perry Triplett.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Triplett of Tyler; daughters, Lisa Silas and husband, Anthony and Angela Powers and husband, Jake, all of Whitney; 3 granddaughters, Mary Beth Powers, Allison Powers and Anna Silas, and a grandson, Kirk Silas, all of Whitney; a sister, Hannah Elizabeth Drake of Houston; brother-in-law, Garry Marsh and wife, Diane of Whitney; 2 nieces, Robyn Rutledge of Waxahachie and Daneil Reed of Houston; and three nephews Greg Marsh of Midlothian, Chad Reed of Houston and Manning Reed of Ingram.
