Mark Billings Parkins was born on December 6, 1951, in Midland, Texas, to Jack and Peggy Holman. On August 3, 1996, he married JoAnn (Bookout) Parkins in Bellville, Texas and they eventually made Austin, Texas their home. Mark received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, home of the Lumberjacks, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He devoted countless hours of hard work and dedication as the owner of Austin's, Rasta Pasta Restaurant. Mark's passion for family, friends, good times and great food will continue to live on through all of the people who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn Parkins of Austin, Texas; son Matthew Parkins of Breckenridge, Colorado; daughter Melissa Parkins of Evergreen, Colorado; son James Holloway of Austin, Texas; sister Lynne Harr and husband Charles of Knoxville, Tennessee; and his brother John Parkins and wife Melanie of Midland, Texas.
Memorials may be made in Mark's memory to the Animal Rescue League or your favorite charity.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012, in the Chapel of University Baptist Church, Austin, Texas. The Reverend Amelia Fulbright will be officiating.
