Larry Alan Luna of Georgetown, Texas, died Monday, October 9, in Georgetown, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to James and Peggy Luna on March 21, 1955. As a small child he lived in San Antonio and Dallas, Texas. Larry graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in 1974, where he was a star quarterback, and received several offers to play collegiate football. Larry received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1979. At SFA, Larry was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. After graduation from SFA, Larry started his career with the Maytag company, which evolved into a leadership position with his family's business--Richardson Appliance.
In 1994 Larry moved to Longview, Texas, where he helped develop a successful communications business serving customers throughout the world. There, he was ultimately promoted to president and CEO of Encompass Communications, LLC. In recent years, he was also instrumental in establishing several other successful companies. He was truly a talented businessman.
Larry was a loyal friend and stayed in touch with most of the friends he made through the years. He was a hard worker, had a special talent for mentoring young men, and serving his family. His family was of utmost importance, and he spent many hours visiting and vacationing with them. He especially enjoyed spending time on the water. Larry received Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1984, and in recent years his life was made rich with God's Word, serving the local church, and sharing with others God's love. His death was sudden, and a shock to all who knew him. During his battle with atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure he never complained or pitied himself. Recently, when asked how he was feeling, he responded by saying, "Either way, I win. If I stay, I get to have more time with my family; if I go, I get to be with the Lord Jesus."
Larry is survived by his wife, Amy Luna, sons, Justice and Jacob Craven of Georgetown, and Ryan Luna, his wife Genesis, and three grandchildren, Marguerite Luna, William Luna and Beau Luna, all of Waco. He is also survived by his mother, Peggy Luna, of Richardson; his brother Tarry Luna and wife Tracy, of McKinney; by nieces, Cameron Russell and husband Cliff, of Farmers Branch, and Ava Luna, of McKinney; and nephew, Hayden Luna of McKinney.
The memorial service will be held in Leander, Texas, on Saturday, October 14, at Central Leander Church at 11 am. His final resting place will be in the Florida Keys. Flowers and/or memorial remembrances may be sent/made to the Central Leander Church in Leander, Texas.

A strange post popped up today on my Facebook feed!
It was a comment from Larry's brother Gary!
He was one of my pledge brothers that did not complete pledgeship! It brought back memories good and and bad! The saddest part is that it was sent shortly before his death 9 years ago! I am posting his obitiary here.to remind others of a friend/brother!
Gary was a graduate from J.J. Pearce High School in 1979, followed by college at Stephen F. Austin University where he pledged Phi Delta Theta. After coming home from school, he was a key contributor to the family business, Richardson Appliance where he helped manage from 1971-1993. He then took over the family business to make it his own, Appliance Concepts, which he fully owned and operated until his death. You could always count on him to be your handy man, because he was truly a jack of all trades. Gary Wayne had a love for hunting and the outdoors, in fact he often enjoyed preparing a good meal from what he hunted for his family and friends to enjoy. He never missed a chance to ski, shoot guns, or be out on the lake. He also loved the Rolling Stones and the Dallas Cowboys, which he would blare throughout his house on any given day. Above all else, Gary had a mighty faith in our Lord Jesus. He spread the Word quite frequently to others and was a Stephen Minister at his church. Gary would go out of his way to always help others in need, no matter what day or time. You could always count on him. Without a doubt he touched many lives and was loved by many. He will always be in our hearts, may he rest in peace. He is survived by daughters Cameron Luna and her fiancé Clif Russell and Taylor Wright, mother Peggy Luna, brothers Larry Luna and his wife Amy and Tarry Luna and his wife Tracy, half-brother James Patterson, niece and nephews Ava, Ryan and Hayden Luna and Justice and Jacob Craven. He was preceded in death by his father Jim Luna.
